New Artists in the Washington Green Portfolio
We are delighted to introduce two fantastic new artists to the Washington Green portfolio: Paine Proffitt and Steve Johnston. The work of both artists was received extremely well when it was released at this year’s Spring Fair at the NEC in Birmingham and we are sure that their work will be popular with collectors of art nation-wide.

Paine Proffitt
Paine’s work is inspired by a wide variety of interests, including people, lifestyle, fashion, music and sport. His work is influenced by such painters as Modigliani, Matisse and Picasso. Style, colour, pattern and texture also play an important part in his work.

His main interest, however, is in people, emotion and lifestyle: “Whether it’s a café scene or a football player, a 20’s jazz musician or a pint down the pub, I love the different choices, looks and lifestyles that people choose for themselves.”

Paine was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in 1972 and now lives in the UK. For more information on Paine and his work, please click here

Steve Johnston
Steve intends his work to take the viewer somewhere with a sense of the familiar that has an almost ephemeral and ethereal quality, rather than somewhere specific. With the same reasoning, he does not depict figures to be anyone in particular. “The aim is to portray an essence and emotion rather than a well defined and precise person or location, as I am not interested in set narrative pieces.”

Born in Glasgow in 1956, Steve grew up in Dumfries and studied at art school. For more information on Steve and his work, please click here

The full collection of work by both Paine and Steve is now available to purchase from Partnership Galleries nation-wide. To find your nearest partnership gallery, click here.
